Get A Great Counter Top Water Filter for Your Kitchen

Looking for a great counter top filter?  Look now further than the Essence Advanced Healthy Water System.  Manufactured by Water Safety Corporation a company that for over 25 years has been making quality filters for other brands, which the industry calls “private label”.

Essence Healthy Water System They have finally introduced their own product line called “Essence”. Available in both counter top and under counter filter. The model featured in the photo is their top of the line AHW-35. The replacement cost is less than $50.00 which puts it at 5 cents a gallon! Compare that with other filters or bottled water and you’ll see why this is a great buy.  Click here for more information on the Essence Advanced Healthy Water System.

Is Chlorine In Your Water Really Bad for You?

Most all of us that use a municipal water supply have chlorine or chloramines in our water that is used as a disinfectant. We told that chlorine isn’t bad for us, but is it? The answer to that is you betcha! Chlorine is a chemical that all of us should have removed from our drinking water right before we drink it. You see chlorine is really cheap and inexpensive to use as a disinfectant. So the chances of them stopping the use and going to a non-toxic disinfect is slim and none. So what are we to do?  Remove the chlorine right before simply and inexpensively by using a water filtration system.

Most all of the water filters that are commercially available will  take out over 99% of the chlorine in the water.  Here are a couple of quotes various sources.

“The EPA has raised skin absorption of chlorine to its top 10 Carcinogen Watch List”
The Washington Post, June 1994

“Cancer risk among people drinking chlorinated water is 93% higher than among those whose water does not contain chlorine”
U.S. Council of Environmental Quality

Clearly this is something that we should all be concerned about.
