Most all of us that use a municipal water supply have chlorine or chloramines in our water that is used as a disinfectant. We told that chlorine isn’t bad for us, but is it? The answer to that is you betcha! Chlorine is a chemical that all of us should have removed from our drinking water right before we drink it. You see chlorine is really cheap and inexpensive to use as a disinfectant. So the chances of them stopping the use and going to a non-toxic disinfect is slim and none. So what are we to do? Remove the chlorine right before simply and inexpensively by using a water filtration system.
Most all of the water filters that are commercially available will take out over 99% of the chlorine in the water. Here are a couple of quotes various sources.
“The EPA has raised skin absorption of chlorine to its top 10 Carcinogen Watch List”
The Washington Post, June 1994
“Cancer risk among people drinking chlorinated water is 93% higher than among those whose water does not contain chlorine”
U.S. Council of Environmental Quality
Clearly this is something that we should all be concerned about.
